7 most colorful cities in the world to visit in 2022

Surely you don’t need any reason to visit one of the most colorful places in the world, other than the fact that it’s really cheerfully bright, right? But with travel slowly becoming an option again, and hopefully much easier in 2022, you need to fine-tune your options. So many colorful places, so little time.
To give you some ideas, I’ve picked out some of my favorite cities around the world that add a bit of color to the trip. Each offers travelers a good reason to visit in 2022, whether it’s festivals, bargains, new approaches to travel, or just a busy year ahead. Now the choice is yours.
1. Burano, Venice, Italy
Burano, the island in the Venetian Lagoon, 45 minutes by vaporetto from St. Mark’s Square, is quite simply the most beautiful and colorful place in Europe. No house has been left unpainted, and that gives you endless comfort. But Venice itself and the surrounding islands have become a bit of a circus in recent years, with gigantic cruise ships ruining the sight for everyone and the large number of tourists making normal life almost impossible for local residents. Now Venice is regaining control and has not only banned cruise ships from entering the city’s port, but the Venetian administration is also capping the number of visitors allowed into the lagoon and the city, from mid- 2022. To regulate access, the city will introduce electronic turnstiles at various entry points, launch a dedicated booking application and levy an entry fee of 3 to 10 euros (approximately $ 3.50 to $ 11.80), for anyone visiting for the day, with costs depending on the season.
Not only will this make the lives of residents a little better again, but this regulation will also improve the visitor experience. Less crowded means a more serene experience, as it should be for La Serenissima, and more space on the terrace of your favorite café.
Pro tip: While Burano is the most colorful, there are plenty of other islands worth seeing. To try visit which introduces you to some of the less visited.

2. Panama City, Panama
I have a weakness for Panama, and in particular Panama City, which intrigued me with its mix of modern, ancient and ancient sites, colors and joy of living – a gateway to an extremely interesting country teeming with wild animals and wonderful habitats for humans, flora and fauna. And Panama isn’t as overrun with tourists as many of its more popular neighbors, but it offers so much. In 2022, to attract more visitors, Copa Airlines has reintroduced its Panama Stopover Program, which allows travelers to add a 24-hour to 7-day layover in Panama for flights from the United States to 36 South American destinations at no additional cost.
Allowing you to add an extra vacation to your vacation, by doing two in one, you can enjoy colorful Casco Viejo, pick up a slice of Carnivale or visit the illuminated Bio Museum designed by Frank Gehry in Panama City. Or head straight to the gorgeous beaches and myriad islands off the coast for a quick stop on the beach before continuing.
Pro tip: If you don’t rent a car, get on board visit organized by local guides to further explore this diverse country.

3. Melbourne, Australia
After calling Melbourne home once, I was sad to follow the terrible wildfires that have followed some of the world’s toughest pandemic lockdowns, shutting Australia off to visitors. Now, slowly emerging from the two, it’s time to not only reclaim your travel mojo, but also boost the tourism industry Down Under. If you choose Melbourne as your hub, you can not only visit many of Australia’s most colorful places from there, but you can also experience the wonderful new Wildlife wonders wildlife sanctuary located in the Otways region along the Great Ocean Road. The Great Ocean Road is a natural wonder at the best of times, perfect for a road trip, but the Otways area is famous for its wildlife, and especially the koalas that sit on almost any tree. As you walk through the new sanctuary, you’ll see plenty of creatures, including koalas, kangaroos, emus, and even the adorable potteroos. How could you resist?
Pro tip: When you are in a new place, discovering the views of locals through art is always a good idea. But often, you can’t afford to take a piece home. In Melbourne, the Affordable art fair in March gives you a better chance.

4. Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston really doesn’t need a reason to visit, the city alone with its superb architecture and food is reason enough. If you still need that extra boost, what about these reasons? In 2022, Charleston will finally open its African-American International Museum, examining its history of slavery, while showcasing black performers, and basically, dealing with a difficult section of history in a stunning new location.
Then there is the 75th Houses and Gardens Festival taking place between March 16 and April 9, 2022, allowing you to take a behind-the-scenes look at some of Charleston’s beautiful addresses, while also indulging in some music, food and wine.
Pro tip: And speaking of music, the Spoleto Festival United States, one of the state’s most prestigious classical music events, will take place in Charleston from May 27 to June 12, 2022.

5. Singapore
The city-state of Singapore is full of colorful historic districts and is always a good place to visit. And, as of this writing, fully vaccinated visitors to the United States no longer have to self-quarantine and can enjoy the city and its lush surroundings. Singapore is now trying to combine its prowess in business and luxury travel with a more sustainable approach to both. It aims for a 10-year goal towards a sustainable city and has taken its first steps which offer an excellent reason to visit in 2022. The all new Active, Beautiful and Clean Water, ABC Water, at Jurong Lake offers 12,000 square feet of man-made wetlands that can be explored on foot via elegant wooden walkways that lead to breathtaking views of the lake. The walkways allow you to spot various native birds that now inhabit the wetlands, as well as other creatures, such as otters.
Pro tip: Another great place that has been rescued is the Railway corridor which, much like the NYC Highline and the Petite Ceinture in Paris, took old railroads and let nature take its course, adding an interesting green space to the city.

6. Procida, Italy
This superbly colorful Italian island city, located about a 40-minute drive southwest of Naples, has been voted Italy’s Capital of Culture 2022, giving you even more reason to make 2022 the year to visit. The theme of Culture no Isola (Culture does not isolate – like a play on words, with isolate being the Italian word for island) is more than appropriate and somewhat ironic as the location was chosen before the pandemic.
Procida 2022 provides for a wide and varied cultural program, including contemporary art exhibitions, festivals and performances, all spread over 330 days, aimed at encouraging responsible travel throughout the year rather than attracting the mainstream influx of visitors during the summer months.
One of the highlights will be the Palazzo d’Avalos de Procida, a former palace converted into a prison dating back to the 1500s, which will open its doors as a new cultural place and superb green space, a revived and reinvented historic place that deserves to be seen. to be studied more closely.
Pro tip: Along with Ischia and Capri, Procida is a superbly romantic location for a special occasion or just a day trip. You can reach them all by ferry or hydrofoil from Naples.

7. Copenhagen, Denmark
Continuously voted one of the best places to live – and visit – in the world, Denmark and its capital Copenhagen are not only colorful and cheerful, but also green, sustainable, artistic and exciting. A city trip to Copenhagen combined with a road trip across the country can only be considered a good idea.
In 2022, you can add a few more reasons to visit hygge country. If you are a fan of cycling, the Tour de France will start in July from Copenhagen and then pass through Roskilde and Nyborg, while the third stage will go from Vejle to Sønderborg. Always known for its inclusiveness and acceptance of others, in spring 2022, Denmark opens the FLUGT Danish Refugee Museum detailing this historical part and continuing its entire history through subtle but thought-provoking stories and exhibits by and about refugees.
In a short time, Danish Queen Margrethe will be celebrating her 50th birthday in January 2022, and there will be a plethora of parades and special events that would delight any fan of royal families.
Pro tip: To truly step into hygge, book yourself a stay in the most picturesque Hotel Kaj, which is a cross between a hotel and a barge.
