Christian Eriksen now “training alone” for the first time since cardiac arrest at a youth club in Denmark, Sports News

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen has started training at the training ground of his Danish club which he represented as a teenager, a club spokesperson said on Thursday (December 2nd). Eriksen, 29, suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch during his country’s Euro 2020 opener in June against Finland. He received life-saving treatment in the field.
Since the shocking incident, Eriksen has not played a professional football game. “Eriksen contacted us and he is now training on his own,” a spokesperson for Odense Boldklub (OB) told Reuters.
“It’s natural for him as he played here in his youth and lives around the corner. We are very happy to be able to provide him with training facilities,” he said.

The day after the incident, Eriksen had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implanted. It is a type of pacemaker that can prevent fatal cardiac arrests by delivering a jerk to restore a regular heartbeat.
However, Inter Milan have said Eriksen is not cleared to play in Italy this season due to the cardiac arrest. “With reference to the registration rights of player Eriksen, it should be noted that following a serious injury during the European Championship in June 2021, the player was temporarily barred by the Italian medical authority from ‘exercise sport during the current season, “the club wrote in a statement in October.

“Although the current conditions of the player do not meet the requirements to achieve sports fitness in Italy, it could be the same in other countries where the player could resume competitive activity,” the statement added.
Eriksen played for OB before joining Ajax Amsterdam in 2008, where he went international. He moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, playing the 2019 Champions League final, then signed for Inter Milan last year.
