Rochester restaurant set to open new location in Twin Cities

A familiar Rochester restaurant is about to expand and open a location in the Twin Cities.
How cool is that? Usually we read stories about how various popular restaurants in the Twin Cities are expanding and opening a location here in Rochester (like, say, Red Cow opening a location here later this year.) But now there is one word that this favorite Med City restaurant is set to open a location in the Twin Cities subway.
According to BringMeTheNews, Newt is set to expand and open another location in the Southeast Metro. If you’re counting the dots, there are already four Newt locations here in Rah-Rah-Rochester: Newt’s North, near Highway 52; Newt’s South, in the Crossroads Mall; Newt’s Downtown, on 1st Street; and Newt’s Express, a faster version of the regular restaurants on the Mayo Clinic subway level, its site says.
And later this year, the famed Newt’s name will expand to Apple Valley, where the restaurant known for its “Cold Beer & Great Burgers” is set to open its fourth location. Specifically, the new Newt’s Apple Valley will be located at 15610 English Avenue, not too far from Pilot Knob Road. The story says it will open in a few weeks, July 1st.
Newt’s has been a staple in Rochester since it opened in 1980. And back then, according to their site, you could get a draft beer for the exorbitant price of 75 cents! Sure, the prices are a bit higher than that now – but you also have a much better selection now – with Newt’s menu featuring over a dozen burgers and 30 Minnesota beers.
